Class Of 1961 Reunion History
I received an e-mail from Danilee Gorman Poppensiek, written to Millie Pirko Triff, which contained the following history on previous IHS Class of 1961 reunions.

"Hi Millie,

Finally have a chance to get back to you with information about earlier reunions. I'm sending this note also to the other classmates who worked on the reunions -- Judy Gere Cobb, Pat Scott Dean, David Solomon, Sue Grove Pierce, Jennifer Wallace Wilcox, Barb Oeser Hoyt, and Helen Herrman Hamilton. Tom Joseph was very involved too especially arranging the bands and musical entertainment. I hope they will have time to correct and/or fill in the blanks. (I apologize to anyone who helped on the committees that I failed to mention -- blame it on my advancing age!) Also sending it to Loulie Hoffman Kent, John David, Margie James Perna and Judi Fowler Quagliaroli for their info.

Fifteenth Year Reunion 1976. This was our first reunion. My memory is that you invited a group of us to get together at your apartment to see if we were interested in planning a reunion. You had each classmates name on an index card. We agreed to track people down and plan a get together. After getting us started, you then unfortunately had to move away and handed the box of index cards to the rest of us and we started finding people and planning. Unfortunately I don't remember what we planned, or anything else about it except it was held in July. I'm going to blame that memory glitch on the fact that I married Neil in June 1976 and moved to our first house on August 1, 1976.

Twentieth Year Reunion July 17 and 18, 1981. Unfortunately I don't have much of a memory of this reunion either. My excuse for this reunion being that my youngest daughter, Megan, was born on June 12, 1981. I'm pretty sure this is the year we had a chicken barbeque at a place called Newhart's Lodge, but beyond that I come up blank!

Twenty-Fifth Reunion July 11 and 12, 1986. Here my memory and record keeping are in better shape. On Friday, 7/11 we had a Nostalgia Night at the Holiday Inn (now Ramada Inn) on Triphammer Road. Saturday afternoon 7/12 we had a Family Picnic at Stewart Park, and Saturday evening we had a buffet dinner and dancing. The choir also had a mini-reunion that year with Mr. Mason and they entertained us after dinner before the dancing began.

Thirtieth Reunion August 16 and 1, 1991. Basically the same format and all functions at the Holiday Inn (now Ramada) -- Nostalgia Night Friday, Pool Party Saturday afternoon, Dinner Dance Saturday evening.

50th Birthday Party Summer 1993 -- Memory vague on this event -- I remember a dinner at a restaurant outside of town (one of Tom Joseph's favorites -- Route 89 or 96) -- maybe others can fill in the blanks here. As I recall it was more of a spur of the year event rather than a full-fledged, planned get together.

Thirty-Fifth Reunion July 12 and 13, 1996. Friday eve, Jam session / reunion bringing together the vintage 1961 bands at the Tradewinds; Saturday golf outing; afternoon pool party and evening reception, buffet and dancing at the Ramada Inn. Approximately 80 for dinner; no count taken for Friday eve.

Fortieth Reunion 2001. I wasn't involved with this reunion for some reason(s) I can't recall now. I do remember having a good dinner at the Meadow Court Restaurant that Pat Scott Dean and Jennifer Wallace Wilcox arranged so maybe they can fill in more details.

[June 23 & 24, 2006 All class band reunion held in Ithaca]

Forty-Fifth Reunion 2006. July 14 and 15, 2006. Nostalgia night - Friday evening at Benchwarmer's (owned by Tom Yengo's son) Saturday eve reception and dinner at the Lehigh Valley House. The Valley House was TJ's favorite restaurant and we hoped he would be able to attend; sadly he died in May. Approximately 70 for dinner; no count for Friday eve.

I have the informational/registration flyers we sent out for the 25th, 30th, 35th and 45th reunions that I can send you if interested. I also have "Reunion Newsletters" for the 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 reunions -- basically a listing of names with current addresses (when known) and any comments classmates elected to include (about 20 pages each). No newsletters for the 40th or 45th."
