July 23, 1943 Richardson TX Commercial Real Estate / General Manager Married 3 West Hill Boynton Boynton Graduated IC 1966; joined Marines for 5.5 years and became an F-4B Phantom fighter pilot, flying 233 combat missions in Vietnam; 12 years with GM; President or General Manager of 3 Commercial real estate management company's until the last company was sold after a hostile tender from that sweetheart, Carl Icahn. Working part time on a few low profile real estate deals for the parent company I was with when Carl showed up! Spend time at our main home in Richardson, Texas and some down time at our home in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Married the greatest gal in the world and still with her 44.5 years later from the IHS class of 1962, Penny Hemming. Three children, 7, soon to be 8, grandchildren. Loves of our life.

God Bless,

John
A few weeks ago I asked George Kent to place a Vietnam story I wrote on the Veterans web page. He did so and I appreciate his help. However, there's more to that story than just a combat mission. There's a Testimony that goes with it about how one deals with and recovers combat experiences. If you would like a copy just notify me at the e-mail address shown and I'll send it to you. You may find it something that could help current veterans recover from their combat experiences. It took me a long time until I discovered someone was always there with me. Don't let a friend, son, daughter or husband go through the long learning process I did.

God Bless,

John

April 07, 1944 Leland NC semi-retired Married 2 Brooktondale and Morris Chapel Boynton Junior High Boyton Junior High Life continues to be wonderful. I have my health and soon my husband will be healthy. In November, 2019, he had disc replacement and fusion of the spine, and within the next two months he will have had hip replacement surgery. I fully retired in June, 2017, but not wanting to be at home all week, signed up to volunteer at least one afternoon a week at a local food bank. It's a 3 1/2 hour shift and we are constantly moving, so I'm exhausted when I get home, but it's worth it. Where did the energy of youth go? John also volunteers at our local art museum both as a docent, which is right up his alley as an Art Historian, and at the front desk. We are celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary this year, but the celebration will be low key as it will occur around the same time as John's hip replacement. Good health, however, is the best gift one can give and share. Our granddaughter is now eight, and loves school. She attends a private school in Summerville, South Carolina, where she is continually challenged. She has a fantastic imagination and it's fun to play with her and get involved acting out her stories. Nearly four years ago we moved across the Cape Fear River from Wilmington to Leland. Our hone has four bedrooms and a MUCH SMALLER lawn which makes for easy maintenance in our old age. We have a wetlands at the bottom of our lot so have lots of birds and an occasional water snake visit our yard. We are on a bird migration route so it's fun watching different bird species visit though out the year. We love our church family and enjoy being with many of them on occasions outside of church. I hope each of you can laugh each day. Life is too short to be serious all of the time.

Live on forenamed creek beside Cherokee NF. Daughter Melissa, Princeton, now campaign manager, Natural Resources Defense Council; son Erick, West Point, lst Lt., three tours in Afghanistan, married Katie Stossel, our lst grandchild Elianna Rose born 11/10.
PS:  The "now" photo is with cats Rosemary and Sage, and in the corner, a photo of our son Erick as a little boy.  As I write (Jan. 2015) he's a Special Forces captain in Afghanistan, but he, wife Katie, and three kids (Ellianna, identical twins Griffin & Tobin) will be moving in May 2015 to his new appointment, the Cyber Institute at West Point.  Daughter Melissa, now projects director at the Natural Resources Defense Council, and her husband Ben have a son Abe now, our fourth grandchild and a real smiler.  I and Ginger are still teaching at East Tennessee State University; 2015 is my last year before retirement, but I'll continue teaching on an adjunct-type schedule until incapable thereof.  Two books of mine to be published in 2015:  poetry, This Mortal Earth; novel, The Birth Spoon.  For personal reasons I found it impossible to attend the reunion, but I think of everyone and those idyllic years often--even wrote an (unpublished) novel about the last one--and fervently hope it is very meaningful for everyone.  With advance warning, anyone who might be passing thru Johnson City TN is welcome to stay in our fully furnished apartment; it's a powerful place:  when we rented it briefly, both couples got pregnant there. Best wishes to all classmates. Send Fred a MessageSend Fred a Message
