After high school I completed two years at Alfred Tech, worked at Cornell Hotel School for a year and then married my college sweetheart, Joe. We lived in Rochester for 10 years where I worked at Xerox corporate headquarters 4 years and then had 4 children in 5 years - 3 girls and a boy. We lived in rural Copake, NY, for 28 years. Sadly, we lost our 9-year-old daughter in 1982 in a pedestrian/truck accident. Most of my child rearing years I was a full-time mom, and prior to retirement 5 years ago, I was a medical staff coordinator for a small hospital in western Massachusetts (12 years). Three years ago we moved to Middlebury, VT, where our oldest daughter lives with her husband and 3 children (my husband works in Burlington, VT). Life is good here. Middlebury is a college town surrounded by farm country and mountains, much like Ithaca, but smaller. Now I volunteer as a reading mentor at an elementary school, Hospice volunteer, nursing home volunteer and Compassionate Friends Co-leader, among other things. We enjoy traveling and love visitors.
Looking forward to the reunion.

Quit Ithaca College in 1962. Worked at TCT till 1965. Lived in Syracuse till 1967. Returned to Ithaca and TCT. Married later in 1967 and moved to Michigan then to Massachusetts in 1972. Divorced in 1979 and earned a Certificate in Respiratory Therapy. Took an early retirement from New England Electric CO. after 16 years so I could finalize our plans to move to New Jersey in 1998 after John M. and I had reunited in '97 after 30 yrs. Once our plans were set he was diagnosed in '98 with cancer. During his extended recovery period following surgery he was unable to move forward with such major changes in his established lifestyle. I did understand but had to focus on moving forward myself. After many temp. jobs I accepted a position as Program Director for the Senior Center since it was closer to my Westboro, MA location. I still miss Ithaca and all the "Old Familiar Places and Faces. My daughter Katie lives in Wash. DC. Paid singer, works for a Realtor who conducts seminars on Real Estate Restoration/Flipping. She also teaches classes at a Rec. Center in Alexandria, VA. My son Shaun was a lead guitarist for several bands in NH and a Christian band in FL. He also was a self-employed contractor for companies that needed designs and mock-ups for their product ideas and help with patents. The Empty Nest is Yuck & Ugh! Match.Com here I come! Looking for a Christian ManMatch who has children and grandchildren!
My interests have always centered around my kids and their activities in and out of school. Love Nature, outdoors, traveling, museums, singing in choirs, county fairs, all kids and animals.

Right after high school, I married an Iranian and went to live in Iran and had two children there. I had a chance to teach in the USIA sponsored language school in Tehran and learned how much I loved teaching. We returned to Ithaca so he could earn his MS and then went to Oregon for his PhD. I had my third son in Corvallis.
I only graduated from Ithaca High and really didn't know most of you as well as I would have liked. However, my best life-long friend, Linda Gaden unwittingly set the course of my life. I love her anyhow.
Hubby went to work for ICI, now Astra Zeneca, and we ended up in North Carolina in 1973, We divorced in 1980. I was selling real estate at the time. In those days divorce was a criterion for the job. In 1981 I remarried and bought a restaurant and later a second, Miss Kitty's Steak and Seafood Palace. It was an enormous barn but with fireplaces and table cloths and fancy waiters. In 1987, I sold my interest, left hubby #2, and enrolled in North Carolina State University as a freshman in 1988. I did my BA, MS, and PhD in Life Span Developmental Psychology in 1999. I was full time adjunct at Elon University for 6 years after having done various other adjunct teaching at a few Universities. Long story best shared over a good Borolo. In Feb of 2007, I left Elon pretending to be retired and took a part-time position (they count me as full-time but hey) at ECPI college. I still love teaching. I have been married since 1989 to Patrick Donovan and we raised my two grandchildren, who are now in college. I have just started a business with two partners and so I am very busy. Don't be alarmed at my current photo taken last week by me in the kitchen with my Mac. I was 12 days out from a micro lift (po' folks face encouragement). I have a bunch of other stuff going on. I make soap from scratch and face and body creams and other stuff. Mostly, we just make and drink lots of wine. I volunteer at our Unitarian Fellowship and belong to a group that reads A Course In Miracles together every week. That is surely more than anyone wants to know. I am on Facebook and visit ever few months. I'll scan in a then soon. |

After high school I went to the Ithaca School of Practical Nursing. My first job was at the new Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. I worked there about a year. Then I came back to the old Tompkins Hospital and worked there for quite a few years. I married Fred Ink, IHS '65, in 1969. We moved in to the new hospital.
I enjoy traveling with my husband Fred. Besides our three daughters, we have four granddaughters, and one great granddaughter. And now we have a great grandson, the first boy in generations!
On Oct. 5, 1983 I was in a terrible car accident in which my mother was killed. I had many broken bones and a severe head injury. I was in a coma for four weeks and then in a rehabilitation/nursing home (Highgate in Cortland) for six months. Our three girls were young then. Sandy Greene, my best friend from high school, came and helped take care of the kids. I recovered, which many people didn't think I would, but I wasn't able to work after that. Faye passed away on March 8, 2012. To read her obituary, click here. |
